 {4}^{x}  -  {4}^{x - 1}  = 24 \\  \\  {4}^{x}  -  \frac{ {4}^{x} }{4}  = 24 \\  \\  {4}^{x} (1 -  \frac{1}{4} ) = 24 \\  \\  {4}^{x} ( \frac{4 - 1}{4} ) = 24 \\  \\  {4}^{x} ( \frac{3}{4} ) = 24 \\  \\  {4}^{x}  = 24 \times  \frac{4}{3}  \\  \\  {4}^{x}  = 32 \\  \\  {4}^{x}  =  {2}^{5}  \\  \\  {2}^{2x}  =  {2}^{5}   \\  \\   bases \:  \: are \:  \: same \\ equating \:  \: their \:  \: powers \\  \\ 2x = 5 \\  \\ x =  \frac{5}{2}
