(a^2 - b^2) = (a-b)×(a+b )
=> 1 × 10 = 10

Given Equation is (5 * 1/2)^2 - 4(1/2)^2 can be written as

                             = (5 * 2 + 1/2)^2 - (4 * 2 + 1/2)^2

                             = (11/2)^2 - (9/2)^2

                             = 11^2/2^2 - 9^2/2^2

                             = 11^2 - 9^2/2^2

                             = 121 - 81/4

                             = 40/4

                             = 10.

Therefore the result is 10.

Hope this helps!
