As we knw that the force of gravitation is inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the bodies so when the distance between the two bodies is reduced to half, the gravitation will increase by 4 times..

Force between two object is directly proportional to product of their masses,and inversely proportional to the square of distance between them.
So if the distance between them is reduced, gravitational force between them will ultimately increase.
