Given the value of coefficient of volume expansion of 5×10 −4K −1

As, original density of glycerine

ρ=ρ 0

(1+YΔT)

⇒ρ−ρ0

=ρ 0YΔT

Thus, fractional change in the density of glycerin for a rise of 400C in its temperature.

ρ0ρ−ρ0

=YΔT=5×10 −4×40

200×10 −4

=0.020
