Total red balls = 3

Total black = 5

Total balls = 5 + 3 = 8

P(4th ball is red) is the addition of the following probabilities:

1)  P(1 of the 3 balls picked earlier is red) x P(4th ball is red)

2) P(2 of the 3 balls picked earlier are red) x P(4th ball is red)

2) P(3 of the 3 balls picked earlier are red) x P(4th ball is red)

Find the probability that the 4th ball is red:

P( 1 of the 3 balls are red and 4th red) = [ (5/8)(4/7)(3/6) ]³ x 2/5 = 25/10976

P( 2 of the 3 balls are red and 4th red) = [ (5/8)(3/7)(2/6) ]³ x 1/5 = 25/175616

P( 3 of the 3 balls are red and 4th red) = [ (3/8)(2/7)(1/6) ] x 0/5 = 0

P(4th ball is red) = 25/10976 + 25/175616 = 425/175616

Convert 425/175616  to percentage:

425/175616  = 425/175616  x 100 = 2.4%

Answer: The probability is 2.4%
