Hello,

We need to find out the HCF by prime factorization formula.
for this we need to find the prime factors of 504 and 980.

prime factorization is the process to express a number in terms of prime numbers.

prime numbers are those numbers which do not have any other factor other than 1 and the number itself.

so in order to find the prime factorization of 504 and 980 we first need to divide the numbers by Prime numbers separately.

so let us start the process of dividing 504 by Prime numbers the answer is expressed in terms of prime numbers you can refer the answer below :-

504 = 2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 3 \times 3 \times 7
now let us repeat the same process for the number 980
Please refer the answer below :-

980 = 2 \times 2 \times 5 \times 7 \times 7

now we need to find the common numbers in both the prime factorization of 980 and 540

we will collect all these numbers separately and the numbers which are common are to be multiplied .

the resulting number will be the highest common factor for the two numbers of 504 and 980 .

common numbers in both the prime factorization are - 2,2 and 7
so, the highest common factor is 2 *2 * 7 that is equal to 28.

Hope this will be helping you ✌️
