5ml. of water was taken in a test tube and China dish respectively. These samples were then kept under different conditions as below. (a) Both the samples are kept under a fan (b) Both the samples are kept inside the cupboard Q1 state in which case evaporation will be faster? give reason to support your answer. Q2 how will the rate of evaporation change if the above activity is carried out in rainy day? justify your answer.

Evaporation will be faster in Case 1, where the dishes are kept under the fan. This is because when the wind is blowing, it makes the rate of evaporation faster. If the same experiment is carried out on a rainy day, the water will not evaporate too much. This is because -
During the rainy season, humidity content in the air is high. So if the air is already laden with moisture, there is not much chance of the water evaporating into the atmosphere.
During rainy days, the temperature is low, so the rate of evaporation will be slower.
The rate of evaporation depends upon the amount of sunlight received. More is the sunlight, faster is the rate of evaporation. During rainy days, sunlight is not much.
And if winds blow faster, rate of evaporation will also be faster.

Answer:
(a) Evaporation will be faster under a fan. Since fan helps in the fast movement of the air, water will get more opportunity to evaporate under a fan than inside a cup board. In this case, the outside air will not come in contact with water.
In both the condition (a) and (b) the temperature is same.
Therefore, the rate of evaporation will be affected by surface area of water which is in contact of atmosphere.
(a) Rate of evaporation in test tube less than the rate of evaporation in chinca dish.
(b) Rate of evaporation in test tube less than the rate of evaporation in china dish
Q2.On a rainy day, there is humidity in air. As a result, evaporation of water will slow down.
