Given equation is

5x + 9 = 5 + 3x

Bringing all the x co - efficient to one side , we get

5x - 3x = 5 - 9

2x =  - 4

x =  \frac{ - 4}{2}

x =  - 2

Verification :-

5( - 2 ) + 9 = 3( - 2) + 5

 - 10 + 9 =  - 6 + 5

 - 1 =  - 1

so , x = -2
