Let the number is x. Then according to the question,
x/4+6=(2/5)x
or, x/4-(2/5)x=-6
or, (5x-8x)/20=-6
or, -3x/20=-6
or, x=6×20/3
or, x=40

Solution -

Let the number be x

Given:

6 + (1/4)x = (2/5)x

24 + x = (2/5)x * 4

5 * (24 + x) = 8x

120 + 5x = 8x

3x = 120

x = 40

The number is 40.
