Solution:

[/tex]

(i) 8 × 53 × (-125)

Here we use associative property of multiplication.

a × (b × c) = (a × b) × c

⇒ 8 × 53 × (-125)

= 8 × (-125) × 53

= -1000 × 53

= -53000

[tex]\\

(ii) (-37) × 103

 • Here apply distributive property of multiplication over addition.

So, 103 can be written as (100 + 3)

⇒ (-37) × (100 + 3)

= (-37 × 100) + (-37 × 3)

= -3700 - 111

= -3811

\\

(iii) 6458 × 99 - (-6458)

 • Here, we again apply distributive law of multiplication over addition.

⇒ 6458 × (99 + 6458)

= 6458 (99) + 6458 (6458)

= 639342 + 41705764

= 42345106

\\

(iv) 2369 × (-487) - 1369 × (-487)

 • Here, apply the converse of distributive law of multiplication over addition.

⇒ (2369 - 1369) × (-487)

= 1000 × (-487)

= -487000
