Given : a) (–12) ÷ 0 = 0_________________________
b) (–57) × (–19) + 57 = 57 × [(–19) + 1]
=57x18
= 1026
To Find : Identify the error
Solution:
a) (–12) ÷ 0 = 0
Number divided by 0 are infinite Hence
(–12) ÷ 0 = ∞
or
0 ÷ (-12) = 0
b) (–57) × (–19) + 57 = 57 × [(–19) + 1]
=57x18
= 1026
taking 57 common leaves -1 and - 19 in multiples which results in +19 and not in - 19
and then 19 + 1 = 20 not 18
on taking 57 common
(–57) × (–19) + 57
= 57[ ( -(-19) + 1}
= 57 ( 19 + 1)
= 57 ( 20)
= 1140
