Given that

x/y-1 =1/3 -----> equ ii

From i and ii

2(x+2) =1(y) -------> equ i

3(x) =1(y-1) -------> equ ii

=> 2x+4=y

3x=y-1

Subtract i and ii. we get

2x - y = -4

3x - y = -1
