8.An object moves from point A to point D along the rectangle shown

in the figure below.

a) Find the distance covered by the moving object.

b) Find the magnitude and direction of the displacement of the object.​

distance covered by moving object is equal to circumference of rectangle and displacement is zero as it is closed path

Since, the rectangle is drawn on a graph, and the measure of every segment of the graph is given is 2m

Therefore,

a) Distance covered by the moving object = the no. of boxes covered by the object * 2

i.e. 3 * 2 = 6m ( Ans)

b) Here, magnitude of displacement = distance covered

i.e. Displacement = 6m downwards with respect to the fig. provided. (I have not mentioned tge cardinal direction as they are not specified)
