Answer:

The release of large quantum of water from the reservoirs in the Krishna basin, coupled with heavy rain, has pushed farmers into distress in Belagavi district as crops in large tracts of farmland have been damaged and what is worse is that their farmland too have been affected.

The flood waters have caused wide-spread damage to crops. Water has entered fields on the banks of rivers, tributaries and streams in most of the taluks on the north-western part of the district.

Yellavva Dodmani, a farmer in Satti village, told The Hindu that all her crops had been washed away. “I have lost all the money I spent on seeds and fertilizers for raising crops on my five-acre farm. The precious top soil is also lost. Now, I have to spent lot of money again on labour and compost too to prepare land for the next sowing season,” she said.
