Answer:

The answer is 0.045 sec⁻¹.

Explanation:

The reaction in which the rate is proportional to the concentration of the reactant is known as a first-order reaction.

The formula of the rate constant of a first-order reaction is

  K = \frac{2.303}{t} log\frac{R'}{R}

where R' is the initial concentration and R is the current concentration of the reactant.

1) In X to Y reaction

t1 = \frac{2.303}{K1}log\frac{100}{10}

2) In Y to Q

t2 = \frac{2.303}{0.09}log\frac{100}{1}

Equate equation 1 and 2,

t₁ = t₂

\frac{1}{K1} = \frac{2}{0.09}

K₁ = 0.045 sec⁻¹
