A 35 cm line segment is divided into two parts in the ratio 4:3. Find the length of each part.

The ratio is 4:3

Let the common multiple be x,

4x+3x=35

7x=35

x=5

as the common multiple is 5 then the respective length of two parts are

4x=4×5=20cm

3x=3×5=15cm.
