If the rectangles are similar then their sides must be in same proportion
L/B=l/b
where L is length of mat, B is breadth of mat, l is length of picture and b is breadth of picture.
8/B=6/4
=>B=16/3 inches
AREA of mat = LB = 8*16/3=128/3=42.666 inch²
