Explanation:

a)  The object is placed in front of the lens, i.e., the object distance = 10cm

Focal length, f= 5cm

So, the image formed using the lens:

(i) Converging lens or Convex lens:-

The image formed is at 2f of the other side which is real, inverted in nature and is the same size as the object.

(ii) Diverging lens or Concave lens:-

The image formed in between the optical center and focus, on the same side as the object. The image is virtual and erect in nature and has a diminished size as compared to the object.

(b) Practical use for:

(i) Convex Mirror: It is used as a rear-view mirror in vehicles to check back.

(ii) Concave Mirror: It is used by the dentists to get a larger view of the teeth during the treatment.

(iii) Convex Lens: It is used as a camera lens.

(iv) Concave Lens: It is used in eyeglasses and contacts.
