A can do work in 11 days and B take 33 days to do the same . So A is 3 times faster than B.

find LCM of 11 and 33

LCM(11,33) =33

so we can take total work as 33

A's one day work =33/11=3

B's one day work =33/33=1

they are doing work in alternative days.

first day A  complete 3 work and the second day B complete 1 work. After 2 days total work completed is 3+1 = 4

that means 4/33 work completed.

therefore 33/4= 8 days and 1/4 days

so we need 8 such pairs(A+B) total 16 days +1/4th of a day.

Therefore 16 +1 =17 days are needed to complete the task
