DAYS TAKEN BY A AND B TOGETHER TO COMPLETE THEIR WORK = 16 DAYS

DAYS TAKEN BY A TO COMPLETE THE WORK = 24 DAYS

A/Q,

1/A+1/B= 1/16

1/24+ 1/B= 1/ 16

SO,

1/B= 1/16+1/24=1/48.

Given,

{\dfrac{1}{a}+\dfrac{1}{b}=\dfrac{1}{16}}

And,

{\dfrac{1}{a}=\dfrac{1}{24}}

-» a = 24.........(1)

Now, SUBSTITUTING in given equation, we get,

{\dfrac{1}{24}+\dfrac{1}{b}=\dfrac{1}{16}}

{\dfrac{1}{b}=\dfrac{24-16}{384}}

{\dfrac{1}{b}=\dfrac{8}{384}}

{b = 48}

Therefore, B takes 48 days to complete the work.
