A and B can finish a work in 30 days they worked for it for 20 days and then B left. the remaining work was done by A alone in 20 days more days. in how many days A
alone can finish the work

in one day a do 1/40

A and B, together do 1/30th of the work in a day. So in 20 days A and B would have completed 20*1/30 = 2/3 of the work. The remaining 1/3rd of the work was done by A in 20 days. So if A were to do the job alone he would have taken 20/(1/3) = 60 days.
