and B have 60 - x.

60 - x + x/6 = 2(x-x/6)
or, 2x - 2x/6 = 60 - x + x/6
or, 2x + x - 2x/6 - x/6 = 60
or, 3x - 3x/6 = 60
or, 3x - x/2 = 60
or, 5x/2 = 60
or, x = 24
Therefore A have 24 marbles and B had 60 - 24 = 36 marbles.
