a+b=13

a-b=11

2a= 24

a= 24/2

a =12

a+b =13

12+b =13

b=13-12

b=1

a²+b²

12²+1²=144+1=145

a+b=13__________(1)

a-b=11___________(2)

_______________________

(1)+(2)=) 2a=24

=) a=24/2

=) a=12

sub. a=12 in (1)

=) 12+b=13

=) b=13-12

=) b=1

Therefore a^2+b^2 = 12^2 + 1^2

= 144+1

= 145

a^2 + b^2 = 145
