ascent     time of ascent be t sec. and the object be thrown with an initial velocity be u m/s
v2-u2= -2gh
02-u2=-2gh
u2=2gh
t=v-u/-g
t=u/g
descent
time of descent be t' seconds and the object final velocity be v m/sthe distance covered will be the same as when the object is thrown upwards.
v2-u2=2gh
v2-02=2gh
from above we can see that u=v
t'=t,that is , time of ascent is equal to the time of descent
