2 mv is the change in momentum if u want explanation then comment...

youarebrainly: ok
youarebrainly: look momentum is a vector quantity
youarebrainly: whose direction is same as that of velocity
youarebrainly: so change in momentum = final momentum - initaial momentum
youarebrainly: mv(final velocity ki direction ko positive le liya hai ) - m (-v)
youarebrainly: initial velocity ki direction opp. hain final velocity ki direction k so it is taken negetive
youarebrainly: and hence change in momentum is 2 mv
amy92: ohk
amy92: thnx
youarebrainly: welcome

a ball of mass m impinges upon an obstacle with velocoty v & is returned with the same velocity . the change in the momentum of the ball is <b> 2mv . because change rate of momentum is =mv-mu
but u = v
so momentum= mv-mv

0mv
