             A banyan tree is house to various creatures​

     The national tree of the country, banyan, is a source of pride to the country. It is an instrument that projects spiritual and philosophical values which reside by the surface of the country's heritage.  

     The banyan tree is officially referred to as Ficus benghalensis. The large size of the tree makes it a home for many small creatures. It provides a suitable habitat for the existence of these creatures. The tree not only serves as a habitat for the creatures, it also plays a role of a sacred tree in the Hindu religion. The physical form of the tree is large and provides shade for a lot many things. The tree is often considered as 'Kalpa Vriksha' or the 'Tree of Wish Fulfillment' as it is associated with longevity and is useful for medicinal purposes.  

     They occur in forests as well in rural and urban areas. They are mainly present in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
