u = 20 m/s

v =0

t = time of descent + time of ascent

a = g

(while going up)

v =u + at

0= 20-9.8 t

20=9.8 t

t = 2.0

(while reaching the ground)

v = u + at

v = gt

20=9.8 t

t ≈2 seconds


Hence time of flight =4 seconds.
