Given:

A box of 160 electric bulbs contains 12 defective bulbs

To Find:

If a bulb is taken out at random, the probability of drawing out a

(i) defective bulb

(ii) non-defective bulb

Solution:

According to the question,

Total number of bulbs = 160

Number of defective bulbs = 12

So, the number of non-defective bulbs = (160 - 12) = 148

Now, the probability of drawing out a defective bulb =(12 / 160) = 0.075

Probability of drawaing out a non-defective bulb =  (148/160) = 0.925

Hence, probability that the bulb drawn is

(i) defective is 0.075

(ii) non-defective is 0.925
