Potential Energy = mgh

50 x 9.8 x 100 = 49000 joule

Where, m is mass of object
g is acceleration due to gravity
h is hight

Mass of the boy = 50 kg

Acceleration due to gravity,

g = 9.8m \: per \: s {}^{2}

Vertical height that the boy climbed up
= 100m

Work done by the boy
=mgh
=50*9.8*100
=49000 J
 = 4.9 \times 10 {}^{4 \: } j

Gain in Potential Energy
= Work done
 = 4.9 \times 10 {}^{4} j
