Gandhi Irwin pact was signed when Gandhiji was in jail
gandhiji was arrested for the Quit India Movement, but even when he was arrested the movement did not stop and instead people became more angry and the movement grew. To stop the ravaging Indians the british decided to do something. So Lord Irwin was sent to make a pact with Gandhiji which said that the british would release all the prisoners except those guilty of violence and in return the Quit India movement must be stopped.
