A bulb of three litres capacity filled with air is heated from 27°C to t°C.The air thus expelled measured 1.45 L at 17°C , considering the pressure to be 1 atm, throughout the experiment and ignoring the expansion of the bulb , calculate t.

Let us assume that the gas in the container was heated to t+273 K at which volume ∆V escaped from the containerApplying Charles's lawV1/T1=V2/T2or, 3 300 K=∆V/(t+273 K)  ...(i)  Now this volume ∆V which escapes when the container get cooledSo, ∆V/(t+273 K)=1.45/290K -(ii) Solving (i) and (ii) we get the value of ∆V and t can be obtained.

t = 600 K = 600-273=327ºC
