Step-by-step explanation:

given m1 = 40 g = 0.040 kg

m2= 8kg

the bullet is moving so the initial velocity will be 0

so u=0

v2 = 800

v1=?

put the above in the formula

(m1+m2) u= m1v1+m2v2

as u is 0 so LHS will be 0

0= 0.040×v1+ 8×800

0= 0.040×v1+6400

-6400=0.040v1

v1=-6400/0.040

=-160000
