We have,

• The intial velocity of the bus = 80 km/h = 22.2 m/s
• Final velocity = 60 km/h = 16.6 m/s
• Total time taken = 5 sec

Now we know that, from 1st equation of motion,

• v = u + at
• 16.6 = 22.2 + 5a
• 16.6 - 22.2 = 5a
• -5.6/5 = a
• -1.12 = a

Therefore the acceleration of bus is -1.12 m/s whereas its retardation is 1.12 m/s.
