Answer:

Hi mate

Here's your answer

Explanation:

When the bus is going to the journey,

Distance =120km

Speed =40 km/h

time= x

speed =distance / time

40=120/x

By cross multiplication .

40x = 120

x=120/40

x=3

So the time is 3hours

when the bus is returning from the trip

Distance = 120 km

speed= 30 km/h

time= x

speed= distance /time

30=120/x

By using cross multiplication

30x=120

x= 120/30

x=4hours

So the time is 4 hours

Avg speed for the whole journey

avg speed = total distance /total time

avg speed = 120/3+4

avg speed = 120/7

avg speed = 17.142 km/h

17.142 is the avg speed
