A bus travels a distance of 120 km with a speed of 40 km per hour and returns with a speed of 30 km/h. calculate the average speed for the entire journey.

Solution:-
Total distance=120+120=240m
We know that,
Time =D/S
Time1=120/40
Time2=120/30

Now,
average \: speed =  \frac{total \: distance}{total \: time}  \\  =  >  \frac{240}{ \frac{120}{40} +  \frac{120}{30}  }
 =  >  \frac{240}{ \frac{360 + 480}{120} }
 =  >  \frac{240}{ \frac{840}{120} }
 =  >  \frac{240 \times 120}{840}  \\  =  >  \frac{28800}{840}  \\  =  > 34.28
Hence,
Average speed is 34.28km/h
