Let us look at the answer:

The time taken to complete  80% of the work is 16 days.

Step-by-step explanation:

A 's one day work = 1/45

A's 15 days work = 15/45 = 1/3

So, A finished 1/3 of the work, left work = 1-1/3 = 2/3

According to the question,

B completed the remaining work i.e. 2/3 of the work in 24 days.

So, B can complete the work in = 3/2 ×24 = 36 days

 Now, B's one day work = 1/36

working together their one day work is 1/45+ 1/36 days

        = 4+5/180 = 9/180 = 1/20

So they can complete the total work, working together in 20 days.

100% of the work can be done in 20 days.

80% of the work would be done in 20×80/100 = 16 days.

The 80% work would be completed in 16 days.
