Step-by-step explanation:

let's half distance is x km

then

total time taken = x/60+x/40

in the question given total time 10 min = 1/6 hour

so,

x/60+x/40= 1/6

=>. 5x/120= 1/6

=>. x = 120/(6×5)= 4 km

then total distance = 8 km is right ans

Answer:

8m

Step-by-step explanation:

let total distance be d

 \frac{ \frac{d}{2} }{60}  +  \frac{ \frac{d}{2} }{40} =  \frac{10}{60} \\  \frac{d}{120}  +  \frac{d}{80}  =  \frac{1}{6}  \\  \frac{2d + 3d}{240}  =  \frac{1}{6}  \\  \frac{5d}{40}  = 1 \\ d = 8

The answer is not 400m.
