Explanation:

In this case the frame of reference is the car therefore we have to calculate the velocity of the rain with respect to the car. It is mentioned in the question that the raindrop makes an angle of 530 with the horizontal. In this case the horizontal is the velocity of the car.  

Therefore using trigonometry, the vertical hence the raindrop will be adjacent to the angle. The horizontal i.e. the velocity of the vehicle will be the opposite. The answer is worked out as thus  

$\tan 53^{\circ}=\frac{\text {velocity of the vehicle}}{\text {velocity of the raindrop}}$
