A car is travelling at a speed of 40 m/s and speeds up to 20 m/s in 5 s. Find Acceleration & Distance Travelled

Explanation:

ANSWER:-

  • Intial Speed = 40 m/s
  • Final Speed = 20 m/s
  • Time is 5 seconds

a =  \frac{v - u}{t}

a =  \frac{40 - 20}{5}

a =  \frac{20}{5}

Acceleration is 4 m/s².

v² - u² = 2as

(40)²-(20)²= 2×4×distance

1200 = 8× distance

Distance = 150 meters

Distance is 150 meters.

Formula Used :- v = u + at

Substituting Values

☞ 40 = 20 + a × 5

☞ 40 - 20 = 5a

☞ 20 = 5a

☞ 5a = 20a

☞ a = 20/5

☞ a = 4

Therefore, we got Acceleration 4 m/s²

Calculating Distance Travelled

Formula Used :- v² - u² = 2as

Substituting Values

☞ (40)² - (20)² = 2 × 4 × s

☞ 1600 - 400 = 8s

☞ 1200 = 8s

☞ 8s = 1200

☞ s = 1200/8

☞ s = 150

Therefore, we got Distance Travelled 150 m
