Explanation:

Given that,

Initial speed of the car, u = 120 km/h = 33.33 m/s

Finally, it stops v = 0

Distance, d = 200 m

Let a is the retardation of the car. Using third equation of motion as:

a=\dfrac{v^2-u^2}{2d}

a=\dfrac{-(33.33)^2}{2\times 200}

a=-2.77\ m/s^2

The retardation of the car is -2.77\ m/s^2.

Let t is the time taken by the car to stop it. Using the first equation of motion as :

v = u + at

t=\dfrac{-u}{a}

t=\dfrac{-33.33}{-2.77}

t = 12.03 seconds

Hence, this is the required solution.
