A card is drawn from a well shuffled pack of 52 cards. Events A and B are defined as follows
A : getting a card of spade
B : getting an ace
Determine whether the events A and B are independent or not.

Total no. of cards = 52

Event A : Getting a Spade card.

Total no. of Spade cards = 13

Therefore, the probability of getting a Spade card = 13 / 52 ( = 1 /4 )

Event B : Getting an ace .

Total no. of Ace cards = 4

Therefore, the probability of getting an ace card = 4 / 52.

Therefore, Yes, they are independent because the density of Spade cards among the ace is the same density of Spade cards among the rest of the deck.
