A and B are independent events that means they are two disjoint sets.

So, A intersection B = 0

G T, P(AUB)= 0.85

P(B')= P (not B)

= 1-P (B)

P(B)= I -P (B')

= 1-0.65

= 0.35

WKT, P (AUB) =P(A)+ P(B)- P (A int B)

0.85= P (A)+0.35-0

P (A)=0.85-0.35

=0.5

⇒ P (A)= 0.5
