Let the CP of the CD be x
S.P. of CD at 10℅ profit =(100+10)/100×x
110/100x
SP of CD at 12℅profit = (100+12)/100×x
=112/100x
A/Q 112/100x -110/100x = 25
=>(112-110)/100x =25
=> 2x=25
=> x =12.5

Given,

A CD player was sold at a profit of 10%.

If the CD is sold at Rs 25 more, then profit percentage = 12%

To find,

The cost price of the CD player.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem using the following process:

Let us assume that the cost price of the CD player is x rupees.

Mathematically,

Selling price = cost price + profit amount

Profit percentage = profit/cost price × 100

{Equation-1}

Now, according to the question;

The selling price when the CD is sold at 12% profit

The selling price when the CD is sold at 12% profit - the selling price when the CD is sold at 10% profit = Rs 25

=> 2% of the profit on the cost price of the CD = Rs 25

=> 2/100 × cost price = Rs. 25

(according to the equation-1)

=> 2/100 × x = 25

=> x = 50 × 25

=> x = Rs. 1250

Hence, the total cost price of the CD is equal to 1250 rupees.
