Mobile phone = y
number of laptops is one less than the number of mobile phones purchased.
=> x = y - 1
=> x - y = -1
two times the number of mobile phones is 12 less than three times the number of laptops purchased.
2y = 3x - 12
=> 3x - 2y = 12
x - y = -1
3x - 2y = 12
