A circular carpet of diameter 1.4 m is spotted in the centre with a
20 cm striped border. Find the area of the striped portion of the
carpet to the nearest cm?

area of outer circle- area of inner circle

first given that outer circle has diameter of 1.4 m

so radius will be 70 cm

now area =pie.r2

=22/7*70*70

=22*10*70

=15400cm2

now radis of inner circle will 70cm-20cm=50cm

now area of circle willbe

=22/7*50*50

=22*7.14*50

=7857.14cm2

now are of stripes portion of the carpet = area of outer circle -area of inner circle

=15400-7857.14cm2

=7548.86cm2
