A class has 26 boys and 14 girls. The mean weight of boys of the the class is 40 kg and the mean weight of the girls of the class is 35 kg. Find the mean weight of the students of the class.

the mean weight of boys = 40kg
then the sum of the wieghts of the boys = 26*40=1040kg

the class has 14 girls.
the mean weights of the girls = 35kg
then the sum of the weights of the girls = 14*35=490kg


according to the problem ,

the mean weight of the total class = sum of weights of girls and boys / total number of students.= 490+1040kg/26+14
=1530kg/40
=153/4=38.25


therefore the mean weight of the total class =38.25 kg.
