Given : A clock gaining 2 min every hour was synchronized at midnight with a clock losing 1 min every hour.

To find : How many minutes the clock (losing time) will be behind the other clock at eleven in the following morning?

Solution:

Clocls synced at mid night

hours spent till 11 AM = 11   hours

clock gaining 2 min every hour  will gain = 11 * 2 =  22 mins

Clock will show  11:22 AM

clock losing 1 min every hour  will loose = 1 * 11  = 11 mins

Clock will show  10:49  AM

minutes the clock (losing time) will be behind the other clock at eleven in the following morning  =  22 + 11  = 33 mins

or  11:22 - 10:49  =  33 minutes

the clock (losing time) will be 33  minutes behind the other clock at eleven in the following morning
