The answer is 1/2.

A coin is flipped here to decide which team will start the game. As a coin is flipped and a coin has two faces - a head and a tail, there will be a total of two chances so that there will only be 2 teams. And there won't be more than or less than 2 teams.

If there were 6 teams, then a dice would have to be thrown!!!

Okay, thus there are a total of 2 teams such that the no. of total outcomes is 2.

And those are,

1.  Our team will start the game.

2. Opponent team will start the game.

Among these two, there is only 1 chance in which our team will start the game.

Thus the probability is 1/2.

Answer:-

Given:-

One Coin is Tossed to decide which team will start the Game.

To Find:-

Probability that my Team will start the Game.

Find:-

Since, It's a Coin.

As we know a Coin has only Two Faces. That is Head and Tail.

Hence,

Total Outcome = 2 ( Head & Tail).

Now,

When the Coin is tossed, there is an equal probability of getting Head or Tail.

So, The Tossed coin can show Head or Tail.

Hence,

Favourable Outcome = 1.

Probability of Getting chance to my Team to Start the Game = Favourable Outcome/ Total Outcome

=> 1/2.

Hence,

The Probability of Getting chance to my Team to Start the Game is 1/2.

Hope it Helps!!
