C2H5OH (ETHANOL) --(H2SO4)----- > C2H4 (ETHENE) + H2O

Compound x is ethanol and compound y is ethene....

Hi there!

Compound ‘X’ on heating with excess conc. sulphuric acid at 443 gives unsaturated compound.

CH_3-CH_2-OH + H_2 SO_4CH_2 = CH_2 + H_{2} O

Ethyl Alcohol [ Ethanol. ] + Sulphuric acid → Ethene + Water
