Image size is half of that of object. So,
magnification(m) is 1/2
=> -v/u=1/2 => -v= u/2------(1)
R = 40cm. So, f= 20 cm
1/v+1/u= 1/f
1/f-1/v = 1/u => 1/20+2/u= 1/u ------(from 1)
=> 1-2/u= 1/20=> u= -20 cm
=> v =+10 cm
Hope it helped u. All the best!!!!
